Abstract
Introduction: The global healthcare environment is undergoing significant transformation. Within this dynamic setting, nursing care plays a crucial role in patient outcomes. Today, patient satisfaction with nursing care is widely recognized as a key indicator of overall hospital service quality. Assessing patient satisfaction from a patient-centered perspective has become an essential part of modern quality management systems in hospitals. Since nursing care constitutes a fundamental part of healthcare delivery, its effectiveness and adequacy can be evaluated through the perceptions and satisfaction levels of both patients and their families. Materials and Methods: A comparative descriptive research design was employed for this study. The research involved a total of 120 patients admitted to Civil Hospital, Phase-6, and Shalby Hospital, Phase-9, located in Mohali, Punjab. Participants were chosen using a non-probability convenience sampling method. Data collection was carried out using a five-point Likert scale designed to measure patients’ satisfaction with the nursing care they received. To ensure the content validity of the tool, it was reviewed and validated by seven nursing experts. The reliability of the instrument was tested using Cronbach’s Alpha in IBM SPSS version 26, yielding a coefficient of 0.84, indicating a high level of reliability. Results: The findings of the present study revealed that level of Satisfaction score with nursing care among patients admitted in the selected private hospital is higher than government hospital of District Mohali, Punjab. The scores revealed that the 96.7% patients were highly satisfied and 3.3% were satisfied in shalby hospital but none of them were dissatisfied and highly dissatisfied regarding nursing care where as 68.7% patients were dissatisfied and 31.7% were satisfied in civil hospital but none of them were highly satisfied and highly dissatisfied regarding nursing care. Conclusion It is concluded that private hospital patients were more satisfied than government hospital with nursing care services
