Time Utilization by Hospital Attendants and Housekeeping Staffs in a Tertiary Level Hospital

Introduction: Time management refers to the deliberate and conscious management of one’s time to effectively allocate it to specific activities, with the aim of enhancing productivity and efficiency. Efficient time utilization can lead to improved employee productivity, streamlined job performance, and effective task completion. Additionally, it enables employees to accomplish necessary tasks and assists organizations in achieving their goals by effectively recording and guiding their activities. The objectives of this study were to assess how hospital attendants and housekeeping staff members in a tertiary care hospital utilize their time. Methods: The study employed a descriptive research design to carry out the investigation. 20 observations of hospital attendants and housekeeping staffs were made by the investigators. An observation checklist was prepared and utilized by the researcher to assess the time utilization by hospital attendants and housekeeping staffs. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Results: The mean time taken by hospital attendants for sweeping and mopping is 184 minutes and helping in patient care is 68 minutes. Total time spend for working is 587 minutes as compared to 720 minutes as standard. The mean time spent by housekeeping staff in toilet and bathroom cleaning is 132 minutes and leisure time is 92 minutes. Conclusion: Education is an essential part of care and an effective method for improving the knowledge about the importance of time management and helps in improving the quality of patient care. The findings of the study could be utilized in clinical areas in improving the effective evidence-based care to patients.

Abstract

n INTRODUCTION: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a significant global health issue characterized by chronic hypoglycemia and an imbalance in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. It has multiple underlying causes. Hyperglycemia refers to high blood glucose levels, while low blood glucose levels are known as hypoglycemia. Raising awareness about the signs and symptoms of diabetes among individuals with the condition can potentially minimize complications. OBJECTIVES: 1. To evaluate the initial knowledge level of diabetic patients about hypoglycemia and its management, both before and after conducting the pre-test and post-test. (2)To assess the impact of the organised training programme on diabetic patients’ understanding of hypoglycemia and how to treat it. (3) To establish a relationship between the selected demographic characteristics of the participants and their initial level of knowledge as measured by the pre-test. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: The study employed a descriptive research design and utilized a non-probability convenient sampling technique to select a sample of 60 participants. MAJOR FINDINGS OF THE STUDY: Out of 60 samples, majority of samples 35(58.3%) were female & only 25(41.7%) of samples were female. Most of the samples 25(41.7%) belongs age group between 46 to 60 years. About 37(61.7%) of people having history of diabetes in family. About 22(36.7%) of people are using herbal medications & about 38(63.3%) of people are not using any kind of medications. About 32(53.3%) of people are having no any history of diabetes. CONCLUSION: According to the study’s findings, diabetic patients had somewhat acceptable knowledge of hypoglycemia. So, diabetes patients need to be aware of how to control hypoglycemia by receiving health education that will help them learn how to do so and prevent further problems.

Raising awareness about the signs and symptoms of diabetes among individuals with the condition can potentially minimize complications. OBJECTIVES: 1. To evaluate the initial knowledge level of diabetic patients about hypoglycemia and its management, both before and after conducting the pre-test and post-test. (2)To assess the impact of the organised training programme on diabetic patients’ understanding of hypoglycemia and how to treat it. (3) To establish a relationship between the selected demographic characteristics of the participants and their initial level of knowledge as measured by the pre-test. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: The study employed a descriptive research design and utilized a non-probability convenient sampling technique to select a sample of 60 participants. MAJOR FINDINGS OF THE STUDY: Out of 60 samples, majority of samples 35(58.3%) were female & only 25(41.7%) of samples were female. Most of the samples 25(41.7%) belongs age group between 46 to 60 years. About 37(61.7%) of people having history of diabetes in family. About 22(36.7%) of people are using herbal medications & about 38(63.3%) of people are not using any kind of medications. About 32(53.3%) of people are having no any history of diabetes. CONCLUSION: According to the study’s findings, diabetic patients had somewhat acceptable knowledge of hypoglycemia. So, diabetes patients need to be aware of how to control hypoglycemia by receiving health education that will help them learn how to do so and prevent further problems.

Abstract

n This study aimed to determine the level of knowledge and attitude of eligible couples toward permanent family planning methods in a selected rural area of the district. The research method was an evaluation. Sixty couples were chosen at random who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The primary purpose of this research is to evaluate the level of understanding and satisfaction with permanent family planning methods among eligible couples in rural areas. In this investigation, random sampling was used. The Health Belief Model developed by Rosenstock serves as the theoretical foundation for this investigation. The Health Belief Model was created to offer an explanation for why some people take precautions to safeguard their families’ health while others do not. Considering the research objectives, the data was analyzed in alignment with the study’s aims. Collectively, we looked at the data via the lenses of frequency, mean, and mean percentage. Data from the Linkert attitude scale, a questionnaire on permanent family planning methods, and sociodemographic can all be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the tool description. Within the same group, comparisons were conducted using statistical methods such as one-way analysis of variance and unpaired t-test. In this analysis, we employed an unpaired t-test for categorical variables.

Abstract

n Aim: This study had four objectives: (1) examine how adolescents perceive nursing before and after organized teaching programs; (2) examine how adolescents perceive nursing after structured teaching programs; (3) compare pre-test and post-test results to assess the efficacy of a structured teaching program; (4) relate the mean improvement in nursing image to particular demographic factors. Background: This study assists in identifying potential areas for improvement or any potential interventions to enhance the perception of nursing among adolescent pupils who are potential nursing students. The appearance of nurses is also significantly influencing how people perceive them. Nursing leaders will find it difficult to decide if universal standards for nursing professionals should be established given the profession’s dual reputation. The nursing profession’s values and dignity should be improved right now. Most young people choose their careers based on their interests, their happiness, or their desire to serve others, not on the volume of revenue they will make. Design: The term “research design” refers to a researcher’s entire strategy for discovering the answers to their research questions and putting their research hypotheses to the test. The research design outlines the methods the researcher will use to produce reliable, unbiased, and understandable data. The pre-experimental design, which consists of a single group pretest and posttest with manipulation, is used to gauge how adolescents’ students perceive nursing. Method: The research approach adopted for the study is an evaluative approach. The current study utilized a pre-experimental research design known as a single-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consists of 80 students of II PUC science group who were selected for the study and put into study group. Result: The study’s findings reveal that the II PUC science group students had a negative pre-test level of perception of nursing, with a total percentage of 36.7%, a mean of 56.5, and a standard deviation of 12.2 indicating a negative perception. Students in the study group made up a total of 69.4% of the post-test level of nursing’s II PUC science group, with a mean of 107.7 and SD of 7.03. 32.8% of students found the structured teaching program proved effective. Conclusion: The study’s findings confirm the necessity of implementing educational initiatives to foster among teenage pupils a positive perception of the nursing profession. The results of the study suggest that adolescents have a negative perception of the nursing profession. As a result, there is a need to introduce educational programs in the future that can improve their perception of the nursing profession.

Background: This study assists in identifying potential areas for improvement or any potential interventions to enhance the perception of nursing among adolescent pupils who are potential nursing students. The appearance of nurses is also significantly influencing how people perceive them. Nursing leaders will find it difficult to decide if universal standards for nursing professionals should be established given the profession’s dual reputation. The nursing profession’s values and dignity should be improved right now. Most young people choose their careers based on their interests, their happiness, or their desire to serve others, not on the volume of revenue they will make. Design: The term “research design” refers to a researcher’s entire strategy for discovering the answers to their research questions and putting their research hypotheses to the test. The research design outlines the methods the researcher will use to produce reliable, unbiased, and understandable data. The pre-experimental design, which consists of a single group pretest and posttest with manipulation, is used to gauge how adolescents’ students perceive nursing. Method: The research approach adopted for the study is an evaluative approach. The current study utilized a pre-experimental research design known as a single-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consists of 80 students of II PUC science group who were selected for the study and put into study group. Result: The study’s findings reveal that the II PUC science group students had a negative pre-test level of perception of nursing, with a total percentage of 36.7%, a mean of 56.5, and a standard deviation of 12.2 indicating a negative perception. Students in the study group made up a total of 69.4% of the post-test level of nursing’s II PUC science group, with a mean of 107.7 and SD of 7.03. 32.8% of students found the structured teaching program proved effective. Conclusion: The study’s findings confirm the necessity of implementing educational initiatives to foster among teenage pupils a positive perception of the nursing profession. The results of the study suggest that adolescents have a negative perception of the nursing profession. As a result, there is a need to introduce educational programs in the future that can improve their perception of the nursing profession.
