Abstract
Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder characterized by disturbances in thought, perception, emotion, and behavior that significantly impair an individual’s functioning and quality of life. Mental health nurses play a pivotal role in the management of schizophrenia through comprehensive, patient-centered, and evidence-based interventions. This article critically examines the effectiveness of nurse-led strategies in managing schizophrenia disorder, focusing on pharmacological support, psychosocial interventions, psychoeducation, therapeutic communication, relapse prevention, and community-based care. Evidence from the last ten years is synthesized to evaluate outcomes such as symptom reduction, treatment adherence, functional recovery, and quality of life. The findings highlight that nurse-led interventions significantly improve clinical and psychosocial outcomes, emphasizing the need for strengthened nursing education, structured training programs, and policy support to optimize schizophrenia care.
