Abstract
Electric Vehicle (EV) industry is growing at a rapid rate both in production and innovation because of strong decarbonization motivation from both government and private companies. The patents granted offer improved safeguarding commercializing of the invention and protect the rights of the owner. With the growing EV industry, the patents have risen in number, and in India alone, there are more than 12,00 patents filed between 2017 to 2022 (Asia Law, 2024) [1]. Although only a small number of patents are approved after stringent scrutiny when awarded offer protection of the right of the inventor to be reproduced by others without getting paid a royalty. Some major components of EVs includes state-of-the-art batteries, power trains, smart controllers for driver assistance and traction controls, charging mechanisms with improved charging times, and so on. This paper is developed in a manner to determine the impacts of technology innovations by granting patents to revenue generation for the major companies. Additionally, how businesses draw inherent advantages of monopolizing their products in the EV industry was touched base along with the study of strong relationships between parties to drive a successful change in decarbonization efforts in this industry.
