Abstract
Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) have become a potential technology for sixth generation (6G) wireless communication because they improve network coverage, spectrum efficiency, and energy efficiency while allowing programmable control of electromagnetic propagation. This study presents a comprehensive mathematical modeling and multi-objective optimization framework for RIS-assisted 6G wireless communication systems. The proposed model jointly considers the wireless channel, RIS reflection coefficients, transmit power, beamforming vectors, user association, achievable data rate, energy consumption, latency, and reliability constraints. A multi-objective optimization formulation is developed to maximize system throughput and spectral efficiency while simultaneously minimizing energy consumption and communication latency. The RIS phase- shift configuration is mathematically optimized under unit-modulus constraints, while power allocation and beamforming are incorporated into the joint optimization problem. To address the resulting nonlinear and non-convex optimization problem, an intelligent optimization strategy can be employed to identify Pareto-optimal operating solutions. The framework enables systematic analysis of the trade-offs among throughput, energy efficiency, latency, and reliability under varying user density, RIS elements, transmit power, and channel conditions. The proposed mathematical formulation provides a flexible foundation for designing adaptive, energy-efficient, and high-capacity RIS-assisted 6G networks and can support future intelligent wireless applications requiring ultra-reliable and low-latency communication in diverse and dynamic network environments.
