Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology and the concept of Open Access (OA) have transformed academic libraries into powerful storehouse of knowledge accessible to all. This article explores the importance of OA e-journals and e-books focusing on their significant contributions to the academic college users. It introduces the concept of OA, its key benefits and a detailed list of free and reliable platforms for Arts, Science, and Commerce disciplines. Also, the article addresses problems of OA while suggesting actionable solutions. It emphasizes the crucial role of librarians and educators in promoting the use of OA resources, ensuring equitable access to knowledge, and empowering students, researchers, and faculty for academic growth. The evolution of digital technologies and the Open Access (OA) movement has transformed academic libraries, enabling inclusive and cost-free access to scholarly content. This review explores the pivotal role of OA e-journals and e-books in enhancing learning and research opportunities for college users across Arts, Science, and Commerce disciplines. It highlights major OA platforms, benefits such as affordability, accessibility, and interdisciplinary reach, while also addressing challenges like quality control, digital disparity, and low awareness. The article advocates for the proactive role of librarians and educators in integrating OA resources to foster a culture of open knowledge and equitable academic empowerment
