Abstract
The increasing demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sources has encouraged interest in algae-based biofuels as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels., temperature, carbon dioxide availability, nutrient concentration, and pH. After cultivation, algal biomass is harvested and converted into fuels through biochemical and thermochemical processes This review summarizes the major advantages of algae as a biofuel feedstock, the generations of biofuels, major challenges associated with algal biofuel production, possible approaches for addressing these challenges, and future research opportunities.
Keywords: Algae; algal biofuel; biodiesel; microalgae; biomass; renewable energy; wastewater; carbon sequestration
