Abstract
Mobile technology has significantly transformed the landscape of library services by enhancing accessibility, operational efficiency, and user engagement. With the widespread adoption of smartphones and tablets, libraries have rapidly evolved to offer mobile-friendly services that cater to the needs of modern users. These services include mobile access to online catalogues, digital lending platforms, virtual reference services, and remote access to e-books, academic journals, and research databases. By leveraging mobile applications, users can conveniently interact with library resources anytime and from anywhere, thus extending the reach of information services beyond the traditional physical boundaries of library spaces. In addition, mobile technologies such as SMS notifications, QR codes for instant access to resources, and mobile payment systems for fines and fees have streamlined library-user interactions. These tools not only improve service delivery but also contribute to a more personalized and responsive user experience. Libraries are increasingly using mobile platforms to promote events, provide alerts, and facilitate communication, thereby improving user engagement and satisfaction. Despite the numerous advantages, the integration of mobile technology in libraries also presents several challenges, including issues related to digital literacy, data security, device compatibility, and the need for continuous technological upgrades. Budget constraints and resistance to change can also hinder the effective implementation of mobile services. This study investigates the current use of mobile technology in libraries, exploring its various applications, benefits, and limitations. It also examines future trends in mobile-based library services and the strategies libraries can adopt to keep pace with rapidly evolving technological advancements. The study emphasizes the need for ongoing innovation and adaptation to enhance user satisfaction, support academic and research activities, and maintain the relevance of libraries in the digital age.
