Abstract
>The proliferation of multi-cloud and hybrid Linux environments has introduced significant operational complexity, particularly in maintaining security compliance and system reliability across diverse infrastructure silos. Traditional patch management approaches, relying on manual interventions or disparate vendor-specific tools, suffer from latency, configuration drift, and limited visibility. This article presents a novel, lightweight automation framework constructed entirely in advanced Bash scripting to address automated security patching and real-time health monitoring across hybrid Linux workloads spanning AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and on-premises data centers. The proposed solution leverages SSH multiplexing, parallel processing, idempotent patch application, and RESTful API integrations for centralized observability. Empirical evaluation across a production environment of 450 heterogeneous Linux nodes demonstrates a 94.7% reduction in patch deployment latency, 99.3% improvement in compliance reporting accuracy, and sub-second health check intervals with minimal overhead (<2% CPU utilization). The framework’s agentless architecture eliminates per-node licensing costs and vendor lock-in, making it particularly suitable for budget-constrained enterprises. This research contributes reproducible reference architecture, performance benchmarks, and security-hardened Bash modules that address gaps in existing orchestration tools. Findings validate that purpose-built Bash automation, when carefully engineered, can outperform general-purpose configuration management systems in specific high-frequency security and monitoring tasks, offering a pragmatic alternative for organizations seeking operational simplicity without sacrificing rigor.</i>
