Abstract
Digital archiving plays a critical role in the preservation and dissemination of scholarly materials in higher education. Institutional repositories (IRs) serve as essential platforms for ensuring the long-term accessibility of digital resources, facilitating academic collaboration, and enhancing research impact. These repositories store and manage diverse digital assets, including research papers, theses, conference proceedings, and historical archives. This research paper explores the role of institutional repositories in Maharashtra’s state universities, highlighting their significance, implementation challenges, and future prospects. By analyzing existing repositories, case studies, and best practices, this study provides insights into the effectiveness of digital archiving in higher education and its contribution to knowledge management and academic excellence.
