        Special Issue Description

Dental problems are a serious public health threat that has a considerable impact on quality of life, which in turn impacts everyday functioning and overall happiness. Due to the current circumstances, there is a need to develop and implement a national oral health policy to increase access to oral healthcare and make it more accessible and cheap. To comprehend the specific requirements and resources for the establishment of an efficient oral health policy, dental health planners and policymakers with the necessary credentials and training in public health dentistry are required. Professional dentistry associations can assist government initiatives to meet the vastly underserved population of this nation’s basic oral health needs. Over the past five years, the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Oral Health Programme has made a lot of effort to raise oral health awareness as a crucial aspect of overall health and quality of life. Oral illness is still a significant public health issue in high-income countries, and it is becoming more prevalent in many low- and middle-income nations. The WHO Global Oral Health Programme developed the policies and required measures for the advancement of oral health in the World Oral Health Report 2003. According to the policy, as chronic diseases and general health risks are related to oral illness, oral disease prevention and oral health promotion must be integrated. The World Health Assembly (WHA) and the Executive Board (EB), WHO’s two highest governing bodies, discussed oral health in 2007 for the first time in 25 years. The Member States approved an action plan for oral health and integrated disease prevention at the EB120 and WHA60, reaffirming the Oral Health Programme’s methodology. The policy serves as the foundation for any future expansion or modification of national oral health programs. The special issue invites all the articles related to oral; health policies and their global importance.
