        Special Issue Description

Worldwide, breast cancer still ranks as one of the leading causes of cancer death. The numerous immunotherapeutic and targeted therapy approaches currently under investigation offer hope for a better prognosis for patients with breast cancer. These methods include using immunotherapeutic checkpoint inhibitors in approved clinical settings to treat metastatic triple-negative breast cancer that has PD-L1 expression, as well as BRCA-deficient breast malignancies with poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors. Although encouraging, these focused techniques have only had limited success, necessitating further improvements in patient classification and innovative drug/target combinations. We welcome papers on breast cancer that look at the many facets of immunotherapeutic and targeted therapy approaches. Original research articles and reviews are encouraged for this topic. Pre-clinical and clinical studies that look at the different facets of immunotherapeutic and targeted therapeutic strategies, as well as cutting-edge drug delivery techniques, may be included in—but are not limited to—research on breast cancer.
