      Special Issue Description

High-performance synthetic fibers known as aramid have molecules with relatively stiff polymer chains. It is possible to use chains with relatively light molecular weight because of the efficient mechanical stress transfer provided by the strong hydrogen bonds connecting these molecules. Aromatic polyamide, sometimes known as “aramid,” is a type of strong and heat-resistant synthetic fiber. They are utilized for ballistic-rated body armor fabric, ballistic composites, marine cordage, marine hull reinforcement, and as an asbestos alternative in aerospace and military applications. Aromatic polyamide is known by the abbreviation “aramid.” The phrase first appeared in 1972 by DuPont, but it was commercially introduced as Nomex in the 1960s, with the trade name Kevlar, DuPont launched a fiber with a significantly increased tensile strength in 1971. Because of its high tensile strength and modulus, it was the first organic fiber suitable for use in advanced composites. It has a matching tensile modulus and is roughly five times the tensile strength of steel. Created to replace steel in radial tires, aramid is currently utilized in a variety of settings. The two main types of aramid fibers are para and meta aramids, because of their exceptional thermal, chemical, and radiation resistance, meta-aramid is used to create fabrics that are fire resistants, such as the outerwear worn by firefighters and race car drivers and more frequently, para aramids are utilized in extremely tensile applications such as Stress skin panels, fiber reinforcement plastics for civil engineering constructions, and other applications. With such a wide range of applications, Aramid fibers have made their way into the special issue series of the Journal of Polymer & Composites.

      Manuscript Submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted online by registering and logging in to this link. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed.
Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for the submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
