        Special Issue Description

Neonatology is a field of medicine focused on newborn infant care, development, and diseases. The word “neonate” is used to describe newborn infants, or more particularly, infants who are under four weeks old. This is a very important stage in the development of the baby because it is the time when things like feeding patterns are established, the bond between the baby and parents begins, and, most importantly, it is the time when the baby is most vulnerable to infections that could develop into serious illnesses. During this phase, birth irregularities or congenital flaws are also detected. The medical care of children younger than four weeks of age, particularly those who are born prematurely, with low birth weight, with birth asphyxia, with birth abnormalities, or who are unwell and require hospitalization, has given rise to the field of pediatrics known as neonatology. In most conventional hospitals, NICUs, or neonatal intensive care facilities, are available for such infants. We cordially encourage you to submit your research findings for consideration in this special issue for the international journal of pediatric nursing, which aims to describe and focus on child health care, development, and diseases.
