        Special Issue Description

The practice of cardiology is increasingly being driven by evidence-based medicine centered on clinical trial results. 1 In this inaugural article for Clinical Cardiology: Physician Update, I will discuss the design, analysis, and interpretation of cardiovascular medicine clinical trials. Clinicians will be better equipped to understand and synthesize the results of the numerous clinical trials appearing in the cardiology literature if they are equipped with the tools described herein. One of the main goals of this effort is to reduce the time between the publication of trial results and the translation of their findings into clinical practice.
