        Special Issue Description

A solar combi system uses a common array of solar thermal collectors to provide hot water as well as solar space heating and cooling, typically with the assistance of a backup non-solar heat source. The size of a solar combi system can range from one servicing a single property to many in a block heating system. Central solar heating schemes are those that provide district heating for bigger groups of properties. It is difficult to compare different design solutions because of combi systems’ size, complexity, and abundance of options. Although reliable projections are still challenging to make, useful approximations of performance can be generated quite quickly. Manufacturer’s instructions, nomograms (like the one created for IEA SHC Task 26), and various computer simulation software of varying complexity and accuracy are all available tools for building solar combi systems. Similar methods are utilized in solar combi systems for solar hot water, conventional central heating, underfloor heating, and auxiliary systems, including microgeneration technologies. The way these technologies are coupled, and the control systems utilized to integrate them, together with any potential stratified technology, are what make combi systems special.

        Manuscript Submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted online by registering and logging in to this link. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed.
Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent on email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
