        Numerous industries, including chemical, biomedical, mechanical, agricultural, and others, use coiled pipes with helical shapes. Numerous processes, including water supply, drainage, separation, and reaction, use them. The internal flow of helical pipes has been studied in several works of literature. The study examined the flow characteristics and loss mechanism inside helical pipes with large-caliber and large-scale Dean numbers. By changing coil parameters like the Dean number, curvature radius, and coil pitch, numerical simulation was used to investigate the velocity distribution, pressure field, and secondary flow. Along the pipe, the cross-sectional velocity gradient grows, creating an unstable flow. Centrifugal forces are produced on the pipe in the 180° and 315° cross sections by significant pressure variations. The primary cause of flow loss is secondary flow, which is seen by the streamlines used to study the impact of pipe characteristics on vortices. With an increase in Dean number and a corresponding decrease in coil pitch, the vortex center shifts toward the top wall. In the meantime, a correlation between the amount of internal flow loss and the friction factor was made available. The friction factor can be decreased to lower flow losses by increasing the coil pitch and curvature radius, respectively.
