        Special Issue Description

Autoimmune diseases (ADs) are long-term pathologies caused by a loss of immunological tolerance to self-antigens, which can cause systemic or organ-specific damage. The pathogenesis of an autoimmune disease is primarily influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Infections and exposure to pathogens or opportunistic organisms are examples of environmental factors that can cause the onset or exacerbation of AD. Many different types of infections can affect one or more of these diseases, and a single organism can cause more than one AD. In this special issue, we are inviting articles related to autoimmunity and other infectious diseases and their possible causative factors and treatment.
