Abstract

As patients recovers from COVID 19 pandemic, a subset of the covid patients experienced a post covid condition with long term symptoms, few weeks after their discharge or recovery from the (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Hence, we tried to prove the hypothesis whether diabetes mellites is an afresh possible sequala of covid infection by systematically evaluating the consistently changing glucose level of the post covid patients. The databases PubMed and Google Scholar were searched for this purpose. This review study was done by systematically searching the peer-reviewed literatures on new-onset DM as a post covid condition by analysing articles between January 2020 and January 2022. The articles for review include studies on the patients with lingering clinical signs noted and biochemical alterations showing DM as a sequala of post covid infection a least a month after recovery. Thus, this study confirms that selected number of patients are diagnosed with diabetes as a new-onset disease after recovery from the covid infection. The changes noted in the blood glucose level after covid infection confirms the important of considering DM as post covid diagnostic criteria to give proof based clinical care.
