Abstract

A diverse range of illnesses known as autoimmune disorders are typified by dysregulated immune responses against self-antigens, which result in tissue damage and persistent inflammation. Understanding the genetic, epigenetic, and environmental variables that contribute to autoimmune pathogenesis has advanced significantly during the last ten years. Current disease models have been transformed by new understandings of immunological tolerance mechanisms such as the functions of regulatory T cells, cytokine networks, and the microbiome. Advances in single-cell analysis, proteomics, and genomes have made it possible to identify biomarkers and classify diseases more accurately, which has led to earlier diagnosis and more personalized treatment plans. Furthermore, the creation of cell-based treatments, small-molecule inhibitors, and targeted biologics has enhanced disease management while lowering systemic immunosuppression and its side effects. To improve patient outcomes and quality of life, this review emphasizes new therapeutic methods, summarizes recent advances in autoimmune research, and discusses current issues and potential future paths ahead. Transitioning from generalized immunosuppression, the management of autoimmune conditions now prioritizes personalized medical interventions. By identifies new trends and potential research avenues, this review seeks to present a thorough summary of recent developments in our understanding of autoimmune disorders and the advancements made to maximize the treatment of autoimmune illnesses.

Keywords: Autoimmune illnesses, biomarkers, genetic susceptibility, immune dysregulation, immunological tolerance, precision medicine, targeted immunotherapy
