Abstract

We have established allergic rhinitis models for use in the treatment of allergic rhinitis with the help of the traditionall Koryo medicine administration, lade-screen Powder-extracted Membranous Milkvetch and Ledebouriella divaricate immunomodulatory tablet and the effect of lade-screen Powder on cytokine production in allergic rhinitis model mice. In the allergic rhinitis model, the administration of Membranous Milkvetch and Ledebouriella divaricate immunomodulatory tablets, along with Lade-screen Powder, demonstrated significant therapeutic effects. These interventions markedly reduced the behavioral score, indicating an improvement in allergic symptoms and overall disease severity. Additionally, treatment with these formulations led to a notable decrease in the splenic lymphocyte stimulation index, suggesting suppression of abnormal immune activation. Serum analysis and splenic cell culture supernatant further revealed an immunoregulatory shift, characterized by a significant increase in IFN-γ and IL-2 levels, cytokines associated with Th1 immune responses, while simultaneously showing a marked reduction in IL-4 levels, a key mediator of Th2-driven allergic reactions. This indicates a potential balancing of Th1/Th2 responses and highlights the immunomodulatory potential of these herbal preparations in managing allergic rhinitis.
