The rapid development of computing and technology has permeated all branches of science, with artificial intelligence (AI) emerging as a pivotal field in computer science. AI has significantly influenced disciplines ranging from basic engineering to pharmaceuticals. In healthcare and medicinal chemistry, AI applications have become indispensable. Traditional drug discovery approaches are gradually being overtaken by computer-aided drug design. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have become game-changing tools, revolutionizing pharmaceutical research and development. AI represents the next frontier for the pharmaceutical industry, offering the potential to create personalized and precisely tailored treatment regimens by analyzing a variety of personal data to predict effective interventions. This overview explores the foundational principles and processes of computer-aided drug design, highlighting the opportunities and challenges these technologies present to the pharmaceutical industry. While the future remains unpredictable, it is evident that AI will play a critical role in redefining the pharmacy landscape. Innovations in AI, automation, and robotics are driving advancements in healthcare, enhancing global healthcare ecosystems and delivery systems. Incorporating these cutting-edge tools into the pharmaceutical industry is poised to transform the field. Experts predict that the next few decades will usher in the fourth industrial revolution, driven by digitization, information and communication technologies, machine learning, robotics, and AI. This revolution will transfer more decision-making responsibilities from humans to machines, leading to significant societal changes. These shifts will profoundly impact personal selling, sales management, and related research and practices. This article focuses on the influence of AI and machine learning, particularly within a niche area of sales practice and research, structured around the seven steps of the selling process. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.
