Artificial Intelligence and virtual reality are becoming a part of everyday life and is enhancing our quality of life extensively.It is only natural that the same shall be used in surgery also. Existing literature on AI and its usage in various surgical specialities are discussed in this article which can be applied to oral and maxillofacial surgeries without much modifications. The pros and cons of using AI in the same are also made note of. The potential future applications are analysed and discussed with reference to maxillofacial applications in the intra and post operative stages.
