Madhya Pradesh occupies a central position in India. Its diverse landscape features low hills, wide plateaus, and river valleys. The Vindhya and Satpura ranges are two major mountain ranges that cut through the state. The Narmada River, considered sacred in Hinduism, flows through the heart of Madhya Pradesh. The state boasts rich biodiversity with several wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, including Kanha National Park and Bandhavgarh National Park. NFHS-4 data indicates that 9.2% of children under five in Madhya Pradesh suffer from severe wasting, ranking second-highest in India. National Food Security Act, POSHAN Abhiyan, Mid-day Meal Programme IFAD, and the MP government have proposed a scheme titled 7 Days 7 Plots and Tiranga Thali. Income disparities and a lack of public hygiene, sanitation, and health education are malnutrition’s most frequently mentioned reasons. Madhya Pradesh boasts a rich culinary heritage with a variety of tempting dishes. From sweet treats like Rass Kheer, Lapsi, Kalakand, Lavang Latika to savory delights like Palak Puri, the state offers something to tantalize every taste bud. Madhya Pradesh’s government, NGO, and extension educators must provide proper education about eating a nutritious and balanced diet.
