Abstract

Access to safe and clean drinking water is crucial for both environmental sustainability and human health, and water purification is a key component of this. Developments in water purification technologies have emerged as a key area of scientific and technical research due to the growing global water shortage and contamination. From conventional approaches to state-of-the-art technologies, this review article offers a thorough examination of the most current advancements in water purification processes. It encompasses advanced oxidation techniques, membrane technologies, filtration, adsorption, and other physical, chemical, and biological purification methods. Future directions for the field’s research and innovation are also covered, along with the difficulties and constraints of the existing approaches. This review attempts to give academics, engineers, and politicians useful insights for enhancing the quality of water around the world by combining the most recent developments and trends.
