Abstract
Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a technique in Total Quality Management (TQM) that is used to effectively convert vague customer voices into technical language. It is used to set effective targets for enhancing the products and services provided by an organization. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is a reliable method for achieving high quality in maintenance engineering. TPM does not include a technique to incorporate Voice of Customers (VOC) in its application. Maintenance Quality Function Deployment (MQFD) is the integration of both these techniques to resolve this issue. This project aims at implementing MQFD in a kulfi ice cream making industry to improve customer relations and maintenance in the organization. The customer voices were used in the preparation of the House of Quality matrix (HoQ). The technical requirements and their relationships to voices were identified. Strategic decisions have been made by consulting the industry representatives to distinguish the relevant outputs of HoQ which have been passed through TPM and others that have to be implemented without the support of TPM in the industry. Further parameters such as Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Availability and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) are identified.
Keywords: Maintenance Quality Function Deployment (MQFD), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Dairy Products, House of Quality (HoQ).
