Abstract
Thanks to Industry 4.0, manufacturing is now undergoing major changes that highlight using technology, machines, and sustainable solutions. Yet, very few Indian MSMEs can use these technologies due to obstacles like a lack of resources and outdated systems. This research looks at how combining Smart Manufacturing with Advanced Polymer Composites can improve Indian MSMEs’ preparations for Industry 4.0. When APCs are combined with cyber-physical systems, IoT, machine learning, and additive manufacturing, MSMEs experience better performance from their goods, cut down on the amount of excess materials, and can predict when maintenance is needed. The study looks into the adoption rate of technology, identifies missing technology, and offers a manageable plan for Indian MSMEs with limited resources. Applying a multidisciplinary method of digital twin modeling, monitoring through connected sensors, and cloud-linked production, this approach makes it possible to make real-time decisions while increasing visibility in the supply chain. In addition, it outlines the several benefits for the community and environment due to this integration, such as stronger competitiveness, a smaller carbon trace, and new skills for the workforce. This way of working is proven by the results seen in five Indian MSME clusters. The research ends with advising on policies and tech solutions that can support the growth of sustainable and reliable manufacturing at the national level. The study highlights how using APC solutions for smart manufacturing gives Indian MSMEs the tools to compete at a global level in Industry 4.0.
