Abstract
The Smart Helmet is a revolutionary safety helmet that incorporates advanced technology to advanceuser protection, connectivity, and real-time awareness. The helmet, intended for motorcyclists, cyclists, and workers, comes with integral sensors for impact sensing and alcohol level checking, GPS tracking, Bluetooth voice communication, and monitoring of vital signs. The features combine to provide smart accident detection and avoidance, hands-free talk, and real-time location tracking. In case of an accident or dangerous situation, the helmet can send emergency messages via a GSM module, which offers vital support when most needed. The system is constructed based on a microcontroller (e.g., ESP32), which controls data from different sensors and performs communication protocols. Alcohol detection is done using gas sensors that track breath levels when the helmet is being used. In addition, Bluetooth and GPS modules provide turn-by-turn navigation, music streaming, and voice assistant compatibility by seamless integration with smartphones. The research approach consists of literature review, user surveys, prototyping, and system testing for technical feasibility and user-centric design. Through the integration of IoT technologies with real- time monitoring and alert systems, this smart helmet responds to significant safety concerns for riders and workers in dangerous working conditions. It not only enhances situational awareness and communication but also encourages responsive behavior through pro-active feedforward mechanisms. This paper demonstrates the implementation, system design, test results, and future potential of the Smart Helmet as a next- generation safety solution.
