In order to reduce CO2 emissions through increased energy use flexibility, this article examines existing energy solutions. It focuses on demand-side management tools such as electric vehicles and heat pumps, as well as storage possibilities. The aim is to shift to sustainable energy sources by striking a balance between non-renewables (coal, gas) and renewables (solar, wind). This is demonstrated by the notable decrease in the usage of oil-fired boilers and the growing adaptability of heat pumps for individual buildings. However, issues still exist, such as heat pumps’ basic thermostatic settings that result in excessive electricity use during peak hours. The importance of industrial waste heat recovery employing shell-and-tube heat exchangers is also covered in the article, with an emphasis on how it may be used to lower energy costs and environmental effect. It also looks at CO2-based refrigeration systems, emphasizing how they can be used for a variety of heating and cooling purposes and improving efficiency. To maximize efficiency in CO2 heat pump and refrigeration systems, technological advancements in gas cooler design are emphasized in the study’s conclusion.
