Abstract
The Niger Delta region of Nigeria, known for its rich biodiversity and extensive oil and gas exploration activities, faces significant environmental degradation, including groundwater contamination. This study investigates the application of Monod kinetics and Finite Element Models (FEM) in the cleanup of groundwater contamination in the Niger Delta. Specifically, the research integrates Monod models to understand microbial degradation rates in contaminated aquifers and FEM to simulate the groundwater flow and contaminant transport dynamics. This approach provides a more comprehensive and efficient strategy for remediation, contributing to sustainable environmental management and the protection of water resources in the region.
Keywords: Niger Delta, groundwater contamination, Monod model, finite element model, environmental remediation, microbial degradation, groundwater flow.
