Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into modern digital payment systems has brought about a significant transformation in the banking and financial sector. Among these systems, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has emerged as one of the most successful real-time payment mechanisms due to its simplicity, accessibility, and efficiency. With the incorporation of AI technologies, UPI has witnessed notable improvements in areas such as fraud detection, transaction monitoring, user authentication, customer engagement, and overall operational performance. AI-driven algorithms not only enhance the security of transactions but also ensure faster processing and personalized user experiences, making digital payments more reliable and convenient. This study analyzes the growing impact of AI on the UPI ecosystem, emphasizing its benefits, limitations, and potential future applications. Furthermore, the research explores how AI tools, including machine learning models, neural networks, fraud detection frameworks, intelligent chatbots, and process automation, are redefining the landscape of electronic payment systems. By strengthening efficiency and bolstering trust, AI is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of secure, seamless, and user-friendly digital financial transactions.
