Abstract
This paper examines how Electric Vehicle (EV) technology works together with Distributed Generation (DG) and evaluates its impact on achieving a sustainable energy future. The integration of EVs with DG has the potential to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance the reliability of modern power distribution systems. As the global demand for clean transportation and renewable energy sources continues to increase, the coordinated operation of EVs and DGs has become an important research area. This study reviews the technical, economic, and environmental aspects of integrating EVs with distributed energy resources such as solar photovoltaic (PV), wind power, and other renewable generation technologies. The analysis considers energy generation patterns, electricity consumption, charging behavior of EVs, and the long-term impacts of EV and DG deployment throughout their operational lifetime. In addition, the study discusses grid integration issues, including power quality, voltage stability, peak load management, and the role of smart charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies in supporting power system operation. The paper also highlights the challenges associated with large-scale EV adoption, such as charging infrastructure requirements, battery degradation, and the variability of renewable energy sources. Furthermore, it summarizes recent research findings on optimization techniques, energy management strategies, and policies that support sustainable EV-DG integration. The results demonstrate that the coordinated use of EVs and distributed generation can significantly reduce carbon emissions, improve renewable energy utilization, lower operating costs, and increase overall system sustainability. The findings provide valuable insights for researchers, engineers, utility operators, policymakers, and energy planners who are working toward cleaner and more efficient power systems. Overall, this paper contributes to a better understanding of how the effective integration of EVs and DGs can accelerate the transition toward a reliable, low-carbon, and sustainable energy future.
