Abstract
This paper proposed a novel control approach for overcurrent removal and reduction of current ripple for multi-motor systems powered by a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) with a reduced switch-count. This approach significantly enhances the regulation of armature current with improved performance of the drive while improving the hardware utilization of the inverter. Simulation and analysis showed the capability of the scheme to improve power quality and improve system reliability, making it more suitable for high-performance industrial drive applications. The suggested control method is intended to maintain stable operation of several motors while offering efficient current regulation under various load circumstances. The suggested layout may reduce switching losses, converter complexity, and total hardware requirements by lowering the number of semiconductor switches needed in the VSI. Additionally, the control method improves the quality of motor currents and torque production by suppressing ripple components and minimizing unwanted current oscillations. Additionally, the multi-motor drive’s coordinated operation facilitates dependable power transfer to the connected motors and makes greater use of the available inverter capacity. Through simulation, the effectiveness of the suggested approach is assessed under various operating circumstances, such as variations in motor loads and brief disruptions. When compared to traditional control methods, the observed findings show better current tracking, less ripple, efficient overcurrent protection, and improved dynamic responsiveness. These enhancements suggest that the suggested reduced-switch VSI- based control scheme can offer a workable and effective solution for dependable industrial drive systems with multiple motors.
