Abstract

Photovoltaic systems are becoming main renewable energy sources, but they may face several challenges such as harmonic distortion, leakage current and variable output voltage. Due to this efficiency of the system leads to reduction and also power quality. To overcome these issues the paper presents a novel control-based multi-level inverter(MLI) and it uses multiple DC sources. The main goal of study is to provide a clean, stable and efficient power supply, which will be suitable for the grid connected PV applications. The new design of inverter applies an advanced control strategy that reduces total harmonic distortion and also the leakage current while reducing voltage fluctuation as compared to the conventional inverter. The proposed method helps for better harmonic reduction with very less switching losses and it will improve the device performance as well as higher efficiency. Under different solar irradiances and load conditions simulation studies are carried out and results confirm all the required outputs such as stable voltage, low harmonic content and safe operation. The simulation results show low harmonic content, little leakage current, steady output voltage, and safe operation under various circumstances. Additionally, the suggested MLI offers improved power quality and effective power conversion, which makes it a viable option for dependable and effective grid-connected PV systems.
