Abstract
Cloud computing has revolutionized enterprise IT infrastructure with virtual machines forming the cornerstone of Infrastructure as a Service deployment. This study provides a detailed comparative evaluation of virtual machine pricing and computational performance among three leading cloud computing platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Through quantitative analysis of current pricing data from September 2025, independent performance benchmarks from Cockroach Labs 2021 Report, and market positioning analysis, we evaluate each provider across multiple dimensions. Our findings reveal significant cost variations ranging from 14-34 percent across instance types, with Google Cloud Platform offering lowest general-purpose pricing at $27.67 per month, AWS demonstrating 28-37 percent lower network latency, and GCP delivering triple the network throughput of competitors. Market analysis indicates AWS maintains 31 percent market share, Azure holds 20 percent, and GCP captures 12 percent. Cost optimization strategies including reserved instances reduce expenses by 58-72 percent. This research contributes to a decision framework for organizations evaluating cloud providers, demonstrating optimal selection depends on workload characteristics rather than universal best provider. An interactive visualization dashboard enables dynamic exploration of pricing, performance, and market data.
