Abstract

The smart stick is designed to assist visually impaired individuals by helping them detect obstacles in their surroundings without relying solely on physical contact. The device is equipped with sensors that continuously scan the path ahead of the user. When an obstacle is detected, the sensors convert the information into real-time audio signals that are delivered through headphones. These audio alerts allow users to understand their environment more clearly and respond quickly to potential hazards. By providing sound-based feedback, the stick enables users to “sense” objects around them before coming into direct contact with them. This innovative device aims to improve personal independence and mobility for blind individuals in both indoor and outdoor environments. Whether navigating through rooms at home or walking along streets and public spaces, users can move with greater confidence and safety. The system is specifically designed to reduce the risk of collisions, falls, and other accidents by offering timely warnings. In addition, the stick focuses on being affordable, lightweight, and easy to operate, ensuring accessibility for a wider population. Overall, this solution enhances day-to-day movement, promotes self-reliance, and supports a more secure and comfortable lifestyle for visually impaired users
