Abstract
Pharmacoeconomics is an essential aspect of clinical pharmacy that determines the cost-effectiveness of drug treatment, which helps healthcare providers to allocate resources fully. This review discusses some of the notable pharmacoeconomic evaluation techniques, including Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (CEA), Cost-Utility Analysis (CUA), and Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA), and their use in clinical decision-making. The paper also brings out the importance of clinical pharmacy intervention, such as Medication Therapy Management (MTM), patient counselling, and drug adherence interventions, in the efficiency of healthcare by lowering costs and improving patient outcomes. In addition to this, the review covers issues of regulatory complications, availability of data, and the controversy of the cost-benefit issue. In the future, the application of artificial intelligence and tailored medicine should be optimized, enhancing the application of pharmacoeconomic assessments. Pharmacoeconomics should be incorporated into the clinical pharmacy practice in order to develop cost-effective and sustainable healthcare systems.
Keywords: Pharmacoeconomics, clinical pharmacy, cost-effectiveness, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), personalized medicine, healthcare efficiency, and cost-benefit analysis.
