Calotropis gigantea, often known as C. gigantea or Sweta Arka, is indigenous to Bangladesh, India, and Thailand in South and Southeast Asia. It has therapeutic purposes. This plant features clusters of white or lavender waxy blossoms, an oval-shaped, light green leaf, and a milky stem. The beneficial properties of C. gigantea, which is commonly used in traditional medicine, especially in India, have been validated by recent scientific findings. Among their many functions, plants like C. gigantea have historically contributed significantly to the development of human culture and civilization by acting as sources of food, fuel, and medicine. C. gigantea is known as toxic in the Siddha, Unani, and Ayurvedic systems, highlighting its dual nature as a potent and hazardous herb despite its numerous health benefits and fascination with medicine.
