Clinical Outcomes of Diode Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty and Excisional Hemorrhoidoplasty in Grade II-–III Internal Hemorrhoids: A Randomized Clinical Study

Abstract

Hemorrhoidal disease is a common condition that affects the area around the anus and is found in many adults. Surgery is needed when there is repeated bleeding, when the hemorrhoids slip out of place, or when a blood clot forms. Although traditional surgery for hemorrhoids works, it often causes a lot of pain after the operation and takes longer to recover from. Laser hemorrhoidoplasty (LHP) is a newer, less invasive method that may lead to fewer problems and better results after surgery. In this study, 60 patients with grade II to III internal hemorrhoids were included. They were randomly split into two groups. Group A had laser treatment, while Group B had traditional surgery. The study looked at several factors, including how long the surgery took, how much blood was lost during the operation, how much pain the patients felt (measured with a pain scale), how long they stayed in the hospital, how quickly they could return to normal activities, and how many problems happened after the surgery. Patients were followed up for 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months after the surgery. The results showed that the laser group had shorter surgery times, less pain, shorter hospital stays and returned to normal activities faster than the traditional group. The traditional surgery group had more issues like bleeding and difficulty urinating. Neither group had any major problems coming back after three months. In many cases, going to the bathroom in the morning can be a difficult and painful experience for people with hemorrhoids. They may also experience bleeding and discomfort. Some people may have painful cracks in the anal area or have discharge that is pus-like, which could indicate a fistula or a pilonidal sinus. Due to the embarrassment of these conditions, many people do not talk about their symptoms and suffer in silence for a long time without getting proper care. Although many treatments are available, they often only provide short-term relief, and the problem tends to come back. The best way to treat piles is usually surgery, where the affected area is cut. This procedure can be painful, takes a long time to recover from, and requires many dressings and trips to the doctor. Even though patients go through a lot of discomfort, there is still a high chance the problem may come back. Laser surgery is a better option because it is less harmful. It is used to treat piles and makes the whole process much easier. Unlike conventional procedures, no tissue is cut. Instead, the laser is precisely directed at the affected area to treat the condition efficiently. Most patients can resume their normal daily activities immediately after the procedure. Because of this, laser treatment for piles is becoming more popular because it targets the problem exactly, causes less pain, and helps healing happen faster.
