Abstract
The Smart E-Health Consultation Portal is an e-healthcare application that allows access to high-quality, efficient, and accessible medical care services via remote consultation of doctors & patients. Patients can communicate with their healthcare provider through video, voice, or chat communication which eliminates geographic and temporal boundaries. Factors that influence a patient’s perception of satisfaction consist of clear and timely responses from their healthcare provider, a guarantee of privacy when using the system, ease-of-use (usability) of the system, and trustworthiness of their healthcare provider. In addition to these key factors, the portal incorporates many additional features including symptom input, virtual diagnosis, treatment recommendations, follow-up monitoring, and electronic health records management. The Smart E-Health Consultation Portal utilizes advanced technology including video-conferencing, mHealth apps, wearable devices, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to allow real-time communication between patients and healthcare providers and facilitate data-driven decision making. The implementation of the portal includes secure authentication of users, scheduling of appointments, and a cloud-based scalable architecture to accommodate multiple users. Additionally, the portal will be tested thoroughly to ensure reliability, user-friendliness, and protection of sensitive data. Results have shown an increase in accessibility to healthcare services, improvement in communication between physicians & patients and a decrease in emergency visits by 15%. Nonetheless, there still exist limitations to utilizing this system including dependence upon the Internet, barriers due to lack of technical knowledge, and concerns regarding confidentiality/privacy. Possible future enhancements may include inclusion of IoT devices into the portal; incorporation of predictive analysis utilizing artificial intelligence; use of Blockchain for secure storage/data management.
