Abstract
A Comprehensive Literature review is done to find various areas of application of Lime Sludge. Temperature-treated Lime sludge proves to be highly beneficial to be used as Building material. Lime Sludge has an application area in all types of Building materials such as bricks, Tiles, Cement etc. especially, in Cement it is highly beneficial in all the phases of cement from Clinker to, mortar and as a replacement in Concrete. As per the literature review, the application of Lime Sludge is limited to 10-20 % replacement when used alone, with a high replacement level of up to 30% observed in case of use with other SCMs such as Fly Ash, and Metakaolin. Lime Sludge is waste from the paper industry and can be effectively used in different building materials to reduce the depletion of natural resources and to reduce the carbon footprint of the product. There is a need to further investigate and enhance the utilization potential of Lime Sludge for Higher %ages for Sustainable construction practices.
