Abstract

‘]

The fabrication and characterization of a biocomposite reinforced with banana fiber is proposed in this proposal. The substance used for the grid was epoxy. Hand-layup preparation was the last step in the biocomposite’s manufacturing. Biocomposites with various fiber and grid compositions were produced. After treating banana strands with NaOH in the composites manufacturing process, a comparative analysis between biocomposites reinforced with treated and untreated filaments was conducted. The antacid treatment notably changed the biocomposite’s properties. Filaments treated with 0.5% NaOH performed better as reinforcement in various biocomposites. Biocomposites reinforced with 30% banana strands exhibited reduced tensile, compressive, flexural, impact strength, and Shore hardness, whereas 20% reinforcement was found to be the optimal combination for producing biocomposites. This research paves the way for further exploration into the production and application of biocomposites reinforced with surface-treated fibers.
