Special Issue Description

The cell membrane is extraordinarily flexible due to its chemical makeup, making it the ideal border for cells that divide and develop quickly. However, the membrane also functions as a strong barrier, permitting some dissolved materials, or solutes, to pass while obstructing others. However, the lipid bilayer successfully repels the numerous big, water-soluble molecules and electrically charged ions that the cell must import or export to survive. Lipid-soluble molecules and some small molecules can pass through the membrane. These essential substances are transported by specific classes of intrinsic proteins that form different transport systems. Some of these transport systems are open channels that allow ions to diffuse into the cell directly, while others are facilitators that help solutes diffuse past the lipid screen through a chemical transformation that is poorly understood. A protein that moves other materials within an organism is referred to as a transport protein (also known as a transmembrane pump, transporter, escort protein, acid transport protein, cation transport protein, or anion transport protein)

Manuscript Submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted online via the manuscript Engine. Once you register on APID, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline.
All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a Double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for the submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
