Importance of Cardiovascular Technologies

Abstract Submission Deadline : November 30, 2024

Manuscript Submission Deadline : December 25, 2024

Special Issue Description

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and it continues to be a primary focus of biomedical and technological research. Cardiovascular technology is expected to play an important role in enabling more accurate and advanced quantification of structural and functional changes caused by cardiovascular disorders in the age of personalized medicine. Despite advancements in cardiac technology such as echocardiography, cardiovascular magnetic resonance, cardiac computed tomography, and nuclear cardiology, the heart remains a difficult anatomical organ to image and assess in comparison to other organ systems. The perpetual cardiac and respiratory motions, the complex geometry of the ventricles, atria, and arteries, the oblique orientation of the heart concerning the body, and the small size of some cardiac structures, such as the coronary arteries, trabeculae, and papillary muscles, as well as the large variability in imaging conditions and protocols, are the main challenges faced by cardiovascular technologies (including non-contrasted and contrast-enhanced cardiac imaging sequences). To promote the further development of research in cardiac technology and in line with the promise to meticulously define the optimal role of cardiac imaging in managing cardiovascular diseases, this special issue invites several experts and scientists to submit review articles and research papers focusing on recent research that adds to existing knowledge in cardiovascular technology.

Manuscript Submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted online via the manuscript Engine. Once you register on APID, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline.
All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a Double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for the submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
