Special Issue Description

We are all currently concerned about global issues including food security and environmental difficulties. The circular bioeconomy is a strategy that has promise for addressing these worldwide problems. The development of biomaterials and energy can support the energy-environment nexus and replace petroleum as the production feedstock, resulting in a lower carbon footprint and a cleaner environment. A sustainable circular bioeconomy is also made possible by the incorporation of trash into bioprocesses for the creation of useful goods and metabolites. The goal of this assessment is to promote a cleaner environment by highlighting the waste biorefinery as a sustainable bio-based circular economy. There are several case studies on bioprocesses that use waste to produce biopolymers and bio-lipids, as well as bioprocesses that involve wastewater treatment. In the context of solving global problems, the circular bioeconomy and waste biorefinery strategies can assist in addressing carbon management and greenhouse gas emissions. By reducing greenhouse gas emissions, a waste biorefinery-circular bioeconomy model represents a low-carbon economy and offers promising opportunities for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly society.
