Special Issue Description

The distribution of a chemical species between a liquid phase and a vapor phase is referred to as the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE). The concentration of vapor in contact with its liquid, particularly at equilibrium, is sometimes represented in terms of vapor pressure, which, if any other gas(es) are present with the vapor, will be a partial pressure (a part of the total gas pressure). A liquid’s equilibrium vapor pressure generally depends heavily on temperature. When there is vapor-liquid equilibrium, a liquid with different components at different concentrations will have an equilibrium vapor, where the partial pressures or concentrations of the vapor components depend on the temperature and the concentrations of all the liquid components. When vapor-liquid equilibrium is feasible and its characteristics are discussed in the topic of thermodynamics. Whether the vapor and liquid are made up of a single component or a mixture determines a lot of the analysis. When a liquid’s components (or compounds) are present in specific concentrations, the liquid will form an equilibrium vapor, the concentrations or partial pressures of which will depend on the temperature and all of the liquid’s component concentrations. This principle is also true in reverse; if a vapor and its liquid are in vapor-liquid equilibrium, then the component concentrations in the liquid will be determined by the vapor concentrations, which will in turn be determined by temperature. There is a link between the equilibrium concentration of each component in the liquid phase and its equilibrium concentration (or vapor pressure) in the vapor phase. For vapor-liquid mixes with different components, such VLE concentration values are frequently known or can be established experimentally. With the use of some theories, such as Raoult’s Law, Dalton’s Law, and/or Henry’s Law, it may be possible to determine or approximatively predict such VLE data in some circumstances.

Manuscript Submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted online via the manuscript Engine. Once you register on APID, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline.
All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a Double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for the submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
