Abstract

Weaning is a gradual transition from full invasive ventilatory support to spontaneous ventilation with minimal support. This conducted to assess the effect of nature-based sound therapy among Mechanically Ventilated Patients admitted in Intensive Care units. An experimental design (randomized controlled trial) was used to assess the effect of nature-based sound therapy during weaning among Mechanically Ventilated patients.30 patients were drawn from the target population by using convenience sampling technique and were included in experimental group (n1=15) and control group (n2=15) by lottery method by random allocation. The therapy was given 2 times day for 2 days. The findings of the present study showed that the statistically highly significant difference of in temperature, heart rate, respiration rate, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure among Mechanically ventilated patients in experimental group (p<0.05). The patient outcome was significant difference in experimental group in terms of ventilation status, extubation and transfer of patients in wards. The effect was also seen on sleep duration among experimental group.
