Abstract

nAyurved is the ancient science which addresses disorders with the natural pharmaceuticals, including those derived from animals, plants, minerals and metals. Rasashastra is a pharmaceutical branch of Ayurved medicine, which developed in mediaeval period and focuses on therapeutic use of metals and minerals. Treatment with using of this metals, minerals, gemstones, animal product and herbal ingredients is known as Rasachikitsa. The key objective of Rasachikitsa is to deliver high-quality, safe treatment. The combinations of Rasaaushadhies, depending on the situation, can treat or even prevent complex disorders. Rasaaushadhies can help in managing pandemics, epidemics, and endemics. Since Rasachikitsa has Rasayana (rejuvenation) properties and can treat both acute and chronic conditions of diseases, it is also known as Daivee Chikitsa. Lauha Rasayana, which comprises Lauha Bhasma and other components as an ingredient is one of the herbo mineral formulation indicated in various disease like Grahani (Sprue syndrome), Prameha (Diabetes), Sthoulya (Obesity), Shoola (Pain), Pandu (Anaemia), Kamala (Hepatitis), Jwara (Fever), Shotha (Edema), Kushtha (Skin disease), Arsha (Piles), Plihavriddhi (Splenomegaly), Gulma (abdominal tumour), Visha (Poison), Unmada (Insanity), Kshaya (Tuberculosis), Jaravyadhi (Geriatric disorder) etc. so as a result, present work is an attempt to explore all the 14 references of Lauha Rasayana mentioned in Rasayogasagar in terms of their ingredients, method of preparation, indication, dose, Anupana (Vehicle) and Pathya-Apathya (do’s and don’ts
