Abstract

India is a nation of villages, where people are connected closely with each-other, helping each other in every possible way. Sometimes even with money, however, such monetary support sometimes requires the keeping of certain securities. Hence, proving the dominance of informal credit system in the rural parts of India. One such prominent form of credit system is the usufructuary mortgage which is one of the most prominent practices in the informal credit market of rural India.
