This License Agreement outlines the terms under which research works are published in the International Journal of Water Resources Engineering (ijwre) which is a hybrid open-access Journal. Authors retain copyright but grant necessary rights to the Publisher and the public, depending on the publication option chosen (Open Access or Subscription mode of publication).

1. License Grant

1.1. Subscription Based Articles

For authors choosing the subscription model, the journal retains exclusive copyright over the published content while licensing it under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) license. This means that articles can be shared and used for non-commercial academic and research purposes, but commercial use is restricted without explicit permission.

1.1.1. Subscription Charges and Access

1.1.1.a. Users/Readers/Authors need to purchase a subscription or pay per article to access the content of the published articles

1.1.2. Under the CC BY-NC-ND license for subscription-based articles:

1.1.2.a. Users may: Read, share, and use the article for educational, academic, and non-commercial research purposes once they have purchased the subscription of the Journal or paid per article.

1.1.2.b. Users may not: Use the article for commercial purposes, such as republishing, selling, or including it in monetized content in any electronic, print or any other format or modify or create derivative works without permission from the publisher.

1.1.3. Rights & Permissions for Subscription-Based Articles:

1.1.3.a. Commercial use requires formal publisher permission.

1.2. Open Access Articles

Authors who opt for Open Access retain copyright over their work and license their articles under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) license. In this license others can share the work as long as they give appropriate credit, use it for non commercial purposes and do not alter or remix the original content.

1.2.1. Under the CC BY-NC-ND license

1.2.1.a. Users may: Share, copy, redistribute the article for academic, research, and non-commercial purposes.

1.2.1.b. Users may not: Use the article for commercial purposes (e.g., republishing, commercial distribution, paid services) without obtaining explicit permission, or modify or adapt the article in any way.

1.12.2. Rights & Permissions for Open Access Articles

1.2.2.a. Authors retain full copyright over their work except for commercial usage.

1.2.2.b. Published articles are freely accessible worldwide without paywalls except for commercial usage.

1.2.2.c. Proper citation is required when reusing the content.

2. Requesting Permission for Commercial Use

If you wish to use any content from the International Journal of Water Resources Engineering for commercial purposes, including but not limited to:

2.1. Republishing in commercial books, magazines, or websites or any other electronic, print or other format.

2.2. Use in corporate training materials, commercial or corporate presentations, or paid courses or any other electronic, print or other format.

3. Attributions

3.1. Credit the Author(s), Journal Title, Publisher, and Year of Publication.

3.3. Link to the CC BY-NC-ND license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/deed.en).

3.4. Indicate if any modifications were made to the original work.(Note: Modifications are not allowed under the CC BY-NC-ND License, So this would typically not apply).

Example Citation Format: “[Article Title]” by [Author(s)], published in [Journal Name] ([Year]), licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 ([DOI Link]).

4. Copyright Notice

4.1. Subscription-Based Articles

4.1.1. Copyright is transferred to the Publisher upon receipt of article for publication.

4.1.2. Access to these articles is restricted to subscribers and institutional users.

4.1.3. Any commercial use requires formal permission from the Publisher.

4.2. Open Access (OA) Articles

4.2.1. Copyright remains with the author(s) except for the None-Commercial Usage.

4.2.2. The Publisher retains rights over the formal layout, metadata, and long-term preservation of the article.

4.2.3. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license, allowing free access and non-commercial use with proper attribution.

5. Publisher’s Rights

The Publisher of the International Journal of Water Resources Engineering (ijwre) reserves the right to:

5.1. Publish, distribute, and archive the work in all formats (print, digital, and online).

5.2. Migrate content to new platforms or make necessary technical modifications to ensure accessibility and long-term preservation.

5.3. Withdraw articles if ethical or legal violations are identified (e.g., plagiarism, copyright infringement, ethical misconduct).

5.4. Charge fees for Open Access publications (Article Processing Charges – APCs) or maintain subscription-based access for non-OA articles.

5.5. Maintain rights to the formal layout, metadata, and indexing of all published articles.

6. No Warranty

All articles published in the International Journal of Water Resources Engineering (ijwre) are provided “as is” without any warranties, express or implied. The Publisher disclaims liability for:

6.1. The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the content.

6.2. The fitness for a particular purpose, including research, commercial, or legal applications.

6.3. Any errors, omissions, or technical issues arising from the use of published materials.

6.4. The Publisher shall not be responsible for any damages, losses, or claims resulting from the use or reliance on the published content.

7. Governing Law

This Licensing Agreement shall be governed by and construed by the laws of Jurisdiction, New Delhi India. Any disputes arising under this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi India.
